Bandung, 14 Agustus 2026 — The Physics Study Program at Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR), through its Medical Physics specialization, has officially joined the Alliance of Indonesian Medical Physics Education Institutions (AIPFMI) as a Young Member. This membership marks a strategic step for UNPAR Physics in strengthening its presence and contribution to the development of education, research, and collaboration in the field of Medical Physics in Indonesia.
AIPFMI serves as a platform that brings together higher education institutions offering Medical Physics education in Indonesia. According to official information from AIPFMI, the alliance comprises Founding Members, Full Members, Young Members, and Observer Members from various higher education institutions across Indonesia.
UNPAR Physics’ membership as a Young Member of AIPFMI represents an important milestone in the Physics Study Program’s ongoing efforts to advance Medical Physics as a field of science that plays a strategic role in supporting the development of healthcare technology and services.
Strengthening Medical Physics Education at UNPAR
Medical Physics is an interdisciplinary field that applies the principles of physics to medicine and healthcare, including medical imaging, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, dosimetry, and radiation safety.
Through its membership in AIPFMI, UNPAR Physics has the opportunity to further expand its academic network with Medical Physics education institutions across Indonesia. This membership is expected to provide a platform for exchanging knowledge, experiences, and best practices in the development of Medical Physics education.
Furthermore, this membership serves as an important opportunity for UNPAR Physics to continuously strengthen its curriculum and learning activities in response to evolving academic and professional needs in the field of Medical Physics.

Expanding Opportunities for Academic and Research Collaboration
Becoming a Young Member of AIPFMI not only supports the development of education but also creates broader opportunities for research collaboration and community engagement.
Cross-institutional collaboration is an important aspect of advancing Medical Physics. For example, the AIPFMI meeting held in 2025 discussed strengthening networks among study programs, curriculum development, the need for qualified Medical Physics professionals, as well as opportunities for collaborative research and community engagement across institutions.
Through its membership in AIPFMI, UNPAR Physics hopes to further develop these opportunities through various activities, including:
- research collaboration in Medical Physics;
- development and alignment of Medical Physics curricula;
- exchange of academic knowledge and experiences;
- joint seminars, workshops, and scientific activities;
- development of networks with hospitals and healthcare institutions;
- collaborative community engagement programs; and
- development of students’ and lecturers’ competencies in Medical Physics.
Becoming Part of Indonesia’s Medical Physics Education Network
UNPAR Physics’ Young Membership places the Physics Study Program within Indonesia’s growing network of Medical Physics education institutions. AIPFMI currently brings together institutions from various universities, including the University of Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, Diponegoro University, Hasanuddin University, Brawijaya University, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Airlangga University, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Udayana University, Universitas Nasional, Satya Wacana Christian University, as well as several institutions holding Young Member status.
For UNPAR Physics, joining this network represents an opportunity not only to contribute but also to learn from institutions that have previously established and developed Medical Physics education in Indonesia.
Young Membership can also serve as an important stage in strengthening institutional capacity. Several institutions that previously held Young Member status in AIPFMI have subsequently progressed to full membership after fulfilling the applicable membership requirements and processes.
Advancing Impactful Medical Physics
UNPAR Physics views Medical Physics not merely as an academic discipline, but also as a field that can make a meaningful contribution to the advancement of healthcare technology.
Through the integration of education, research, and collaboration with healthcare partners, UNPAR Physics is committed to developing students’ competencies so that they are able to understand and apply the principles of physics to address various challenges in healthcare.
Membership in AIPFMI is expected to further strengthen this direction while providing opportunities for UNPAR Physics students and lecturers to become actively involved in the national Medical Physics academic community.

A First Step Toward Broader Collaboration
UNPAR Physics’ admission as a Young Member of AIPFMI represents both an achievement and an important first step toward developing a broader network of collaboration. Moving forward, UNPAR Physics is committed to continuously improving the quality of Medical Physics education and research, expanding collaboration with educational institutions and healthcare facilities, and contributing to the development of human resources in the field of Medical Physics in Indonesia.
Congratulations to the Physics Study Program at Parahyangan Catholic University on becoming a Young Member of AIPFMI. May this achievement mark the beginning of an increasingly significant role for UNPAR Physics in the advancement of Medical Physics education, research, and development in Indonesia.
