Physics UNPAR Introduces Ultrasound Technology Through an Interactive Workshop at SMA St. Aloysius 1 Bandung

Bandung, December 16, 2025 — The Physics Study Program of Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) conducted an educational workshop at SMA St. Aloysius 1 Bandung. This activity aimed to introduce the concept of waves and their applications in the medical field through an interactive and engaging approach for students.

The workshop carried the theme “Building Images With Sound”, focusing on the use of sound waves in ultrasound (USG) technology. The activity was divided into three sessions, each attended by 30 students, allowing all participants to be actively involved throughout the program.

During the hands-on session, students were guided to understand how sound waves can be used to create images of objects. Using an ultrasound simulation, students were challenged to identify the denomination of coins embedded in a jelly medium. This activity not only trained their observational skills but also helped students connect the physics of waves with real-world applications, particularly in the healthcare sector.

The students showed great enthusiasm throughout the workshop. They were excited to operate the ultrasound equipment, engage in discussions, and ask questions about the principles of sound waves and medical imaging technology.

Through this workshop, the Physics Study Program of UNPAR hopes to foster students’ interest in physics while broadening their understanding of the crucial role physics plays in the development of modern technology. This activity also reflects UNPAR Physics’ commitment to supporting science education and strengthening collaboration with secondary education institutions.
